Summer is the main season for schools to present The Helen Foundation Award to the young person showing “best endeavour in the arts”. One of the early prize givings occurred at Newton Abbot College where, in a sunlit outdoor ceremony, Fern Townsend was presented with the award.

Her citation reads:

This year's Helen Foundation Award goes to Fern Townsend who has been a positive force throughout her time at the college, and will be for the next years to come. She has involved herself in the creative arts from Y7, and has demonstrated an unwavering support for the arts. Fern’s creativity and ability shows no sign of stopping, and each year she has been determined to be a better version of herself, whichever discipline is being explored. The quality of Fern’s work is matched only by her kind nature, and ability to make everyone around them feel appreciated and loved.  The staff had been privileged to watch Fern grow into an exceptional young woman and are continuously grateful for the time she has given them.

REALLY WELL-DESERVED FERN!
