KINGSKERSWELL PRIMARY SCHOOL

With the Queen’s Jubilee in their sights, Kingskerswell Primary reached out to THF charity, to fund a 3-day workshop to create a special and inspiring tree for their wilderness garden in the grounds. With the help of DAISI arts and their magical lists of artists of all kinds, the very creative artist Peter Margerum was asked if he was up for it - and YES, he certainly was.

Using junk bits and pieces, from beads to wooden kitchen utensils, coat-hangers to hat-stands, Peter helped the Kingskerswell children to incorporate their drawn designs and studies of bees and leaves and all kinds of creepy-crawlies into a impressive Jubilee tree to grace the wild garden along with a plaque to commemorate the event.

The feedback from the youngsters (many of them just 8 and 9 years old) was full of praise for the workshops, where they used small electric drills and mastered the art of using spanners, hammers and lining up the drilled holes for threading wire and beads and connecting branches, crowns and wildlife plus musical instrument elements into an exciting whole.
