This THF-supported workshop was led by artist Claire Harmer who inspired the children to create colourful paintings and illustrations using the freedom of their imaginations. Youngsters refined their painting skills while opening the door to the stories that emerged from their work. The workshop explored traditional folk art and the work of other artists alongside techniques to build confidence through mark making and drawing with paint.

Young people’s feedback:

“I found it very enjoyable doing the painting and using different paintbrushes. It was quite challenging mixing the colours in paint puddles. And I learned that painters are so so good at art!”

“I found it was challenging not being able to see what I'm drawing with the wax. But I did learn different ways to paint."
