We promised the final feedback and photos from the Teign School December 2025 production of Beauty and the Beast, for which The Helen Foundation - in conjunction with the Ella Philp Fund - were instrumental in furnishing the production with the professional flooring needed.

The school writes:

“Teign School is delighted to celebrate the outstanding success of its winter musical, Beauty and the Beast, which lit up the school theatre throughout December 2025. This ambitious production brought together the talents of over 150 students, showcasing the school’s thriving performing arts community through two alternating lead casts and a fully student-led backstage and technical team. Across eight performances, audiences of families, friends, and visiting pupils from local primary schools were swept into the magic of a tale as old as time. The show earned glowing praise for its emotive acting, beautifully crafted choreography, and spectacular special effects that transformed the stage into an enchanting world of fantasy and wonder.”

Director Fay Churchill, who led the creative team, reflected on the students’ achievement, writes: “The students have embraced the challenge and have been so dedicated, coming in for extra rehearsals when needed, including weekends - and wow, it paid off! I couldn’t be more proud of what they achieved.”

The Performing Arts team are now turning their attention to their popular Musical Theatre Club, where students are already preparing for a charity showcase in June 2026. All Teign School students are encouraged to get involved and experience the magic of theatre for themselves, whether on stage, backstage, or as part of the creative team.

Teign School also wishes to recognise the generous support of The Helen Foundation  and the Ella Philp Fund, which part-funded the new touring dance floor used throughout the production.

A spokesperson for the Ella Philp Fund said: “It is a wonderful thing to see the enjoyment and emotion in the kids that the musical theatre environment produces. A real tribute to the legacies of both Helen and Ella.”
