HAYTOR VIEW COMMUNITY PRIMARY SCHOOL

Using a grant from the Ella Philp Fund, Haytor View School invited in Paddleboat Theatre, as part of a major young people’s well-being project in Teignbridge, also supported by the Government’s Shared Prosperity Fund. Working hard with two challenging and lively Year 2 groups, Paddleboat used lots of techniques such as drama, storytelling, dancing painting and music to engage and interest the children. The final result after a series of workshops, and in co-operation with a graphic artists Nia Gould and Laura Croft, the children contributed to a picture and story-book called Big Dreams. THF trustees Annie and Roger were there at the final workshop when a copy of the book was presented to each child. It was a very moving occasion, with such excitement at seeing some of their artwork in the books!

The children said afterwards:
'They were good; I really enjoyed the singing.' Kyan
'I really enjoyed the music. They were really nice.' Dollie
'I liked the acting and singing.' Casey
'I enjoyed sharing the performances with other children in the school.' Hope
'I enjoyed the drama. I liked scrunching up the paper to look like flowers and using wood to make a pretend flower.' Alisha

Teacher Sue Brown said:
“Thank you so much for all of the work from Paddleboat. My class have adored their time with the team.”
CHRISTOW PRIMARY SCHOOL – MOSAIC WORKSHOP
We featured last month Christow’s mosaic project led by artist Monica Shanta, that was in part funded by THF. As one of the children said at the time:
“This workshop was a brilliant opportunity to make something that will stay in school for many years or decades and possibly even centuries!” Harry.
The mosaic is now completed and we were recently sent this photo.

Well done Monica and the children at Christow!
