Schools across Teignbridge annually present the Helen Foundation Award to acknowledge the student who, in the school's judgement, has shown "best endeavour in the arts" throughout the year. It's always lovely to hear about the further successes of the THF Award winners.
BETHANY BARTLETT won the Helen Foundation Award at Chudleigh Knighton Primary School in 2015 for, among other artistic achievements, her love and skill at dance, especially ballet. That same year, Bethany was successful in gaining a place at The Royal Ballet School and in 2023 was selected for The Royal Ballet Company!
In an interview in Ballet News, Bethany is asked:
"How do you pick yourself up on the days when things aren’t going so well?"
"I always think about my younger self and how excited she would be to know how far I’ve come. I also think about my family and remind myself of the love and support they give me every day. But I also remind myself that it’s okay to go through difficult times. You can’t be at your best level every day. As long as I am trying my best, I can’t ask more of myself."
