A.C.T SONOPERA WORKSHOPS AND CONCERT FEEDBACK

Kate Benham of Action on Climate in Teignbridge conceived this ambitious project allowing young people to express their concerns about the environment through music working with four schools and the music development group Sonopera. The project resulted in a public concert of their work. The young people’s feedback included:
“I learned how to play a song on the keyboard and I was so happy. The concert was an amazing chance to share the concerns and issues of the world. It was lovely to spread my ideas about wrongly placed construction and all the negative things.”
“I like the parts of the workshop where we would do rhythm and timing exercises. One of my favourite parts of this project was piecing the song together bit by bit and watching it all come together.”
“It has broadened my musical knowledge and taught me how to work in a group to create music.”
"It has been fun to sing with others and alongside fabulous instruments."
“I learned that if you add humour then people will like the performance more.”
"I really like the project because it helped me learn how much things were affecting the planet and it gave me ideas about how to help.”
