January THF Bursaries awarded

Trustees of THF approved 10 new bursaries last year, totalling over £3000, to young people in Teignbridge with talents and ambitions in the arts but whose families lack the financial means to help them pursue their dreams. Youngsters aged between 7-19 and with long-term residency in Teignbridge may apply. Those seeking bursaries complete application forms that need to be endorsed by an adult professional such as a teacher, youth leader, or arts provider. Trustees evaluate the eligibility of the application and, if approved, see the young person with their parents or carers and verify the family’s financial eligibility. One of THF's recent  applicants is Vicki (not her real name).  Vicki is a 15 year-old talented singer-songwriter very keen to further both her singing and keyboard skills.  Liaising with her teachers and parents, THF trustees verified her eligibility and awarded her a bursary for singing lessons at JJ's Arts Academy and the loan of a brand new portable keyboard.

Vicki's mother wrote recently: "Thank you so very much for supporting Vicki with this bursary. We cannot begin to explain what this means to us all. She is so excited to start on her new musical journey and cannot wait to meet her new teacher. Having singing lessons will certainly teach her how to use her wonderful gift."

We wish Vicki every success in her musical ventures to come!
