IN MEMORIAM: ELLA PHILP

It is with great sadness that we report the tragic death of Ella Philp. Ella was a multi-talented student studying Civil Engineering at Cardiff University, who died suddenly from a blood clot on her brain at the beginning of April, aged only 19. She is survived by her mother, father, and 17-year-old sister (Kate, Darren and Jessie).

Ella's family strongly requested that in lieu of flowers, mourners donated to The Helen Foundation. Ella's page on JustGiving has already raised over £3000 which will go towards a special project in Ella's memory.

Ella loved life and laughter and was particularly passionate about musical theatre. Growing up locally, she was part of various drama and music projects and dragged her friends to the theatre to see musicals, whether they wanted to or not!

Her parents write: "Both Ella and Jessie attended Kenn CofE Primary School and then Dawlish College. It was at both schools that the family encountered The Helen Foundation and the amazing work it does within the local community for the Arts. In a world so desperate and dark at times, the Arts provide us with an essence of hope and remind us what it means to be fully human. This is essential for the mental health and wellbeing of all who can find comfort, hope that and inspiration in the great work the Foundation does, specifically in the area where Ella grew up and was much loved." Thank you very much to Ella's family for allowing us to create this post in tribute to their elder daughter.
